Take it slow

I seriously need to slow down. I have been writing a lot of email crap lately. My brain cells must be going haywire.

I just wrote in one of my emails that my email got stuck in my "outbook". What the f???
And... my counterpart in the US just forwarded that email to everyone on his team plus his managers. Haha. Hopefully they didn't even bother reading that.

And there are times when my typing cannot catch up with what I am thinking and I end up missing some words in my sentences. I hope my guys still understand what I'm trying to say :)

Not just that! I committed a blunder this morning because I am trying to super multitask. Tsk Tsk.

So starting ~~tomorrow~~ today, I will try my best to slow down a bit. So help me God.

I just received good news yesterday from my BossBoss that I am going to be promoted this promotion season. Finally! So I guess I won't be looking for another job muna :) Don't ask me for libre libre yet. It will only take effect around May... hehehe...

And yesterday din I finally received the check from E-trade (after almost a month) for my AMD stock sale. Chug chug kaba kasi ako na baka mawala at naka regular air mail lang.... Wohoo! Pambawas utang.

At dahil sa mga magandang balitang ito..... bibili ako ng bag!

2010 has been a tough year for us and I'm sure that 2011 will be equally tough but I'm quite optimistic that we will survive just as we did the past year. :)

In spite of all the difficulties, there are still a lot of things to be thankful for. Our moving to our own house, Calvin turning 1 and growing up so fast before our very eyes, Jongster finally getting to work at AMD last July, Ate Claire's full recovery from her operation, being able to visit Vanny in Arizona even for just a short while, celebrating our 12 and 6 years anniversary and last but definitely not the least news of Nanay's good health.

Parenting Style

1. Do you exercise full or minimal control over your child's / children's behavior?
Right now, I am pretty much my son's slave. :) But as he grows older, I would of course like to have some control over his behavior especially if it's a bad one. But if it's not then I'll just let it be.

2. Do you expect your child / children to obey 100% or let her / him / them do what pleases her / him / them?
Yes, I expect my child to obey us 100% of the time. We just have to explain din why he has to obey us if he has doubts.

3. Do you welcome discussion or you simply set rules?
Open to discussion.

4. Do you reprimand?
Yes, I will.

5. Do you use spanking for punishment?
Yes, I might. But it should be reasonable, only if he is really super bad.

6. Do you use some kind of a reward System for motivation?
Yes, we will. My hubby and I have agreed that we won't just by him stuff all the time. He has to earn it.

Yes. I really didn't want to have kids before but now I am really super happy that we have Calvin. :)

Yep. But my MIL will be helping out once I go back to work.

Maybe when he is already in Primary School? hehe.. not really sure...

* Keep quiet for a little while.

Survivor...?

Our reduction in force exercise is finally over. They started yesterday and finished today. I am glad to report that I survived and my group of ex-Intel colleagues also survived. This is a good thing for me since the package was not that good for those who are employed for less than 3 years. You will only have a 0.5 multiplier for every year (and pro-rated I think) and I have just been with Amadeo for 2 yrs and 5 mos. In fairness to Amadeo, at least they are still giving a package even if you are employed for less than 3 yrs. Under the Singapore Employment Act, only those who are employed 3 years and above are entitled to a retrenchment package. So I guess they are still being generous despite the current financial crisis.

BUT, there are still some rumors that we will undergo some organization re-structuring and after that there will be another round of retrenchment. Wait and see again....

Preparing for the Future

Jongster and I are going to be parents very soon. As early as now, we are already thinking about Calvin's future like who is going to care of him once my maternity leave is over and I have to go back to work :( , his education and his medical and dental plan. Since our current company medical plans do not cover our dependents (yeah, medical coverage here in Singapore suck!), I am already searching for medical and dental plans that we can get for our little Calvin. We seldom get sick so we don’t really use our company health benefits but we can’t assume that it will be the same thing with our darling baby. I hope we find something as good and affordable as Ameriplan.

I’m still deciding whether to get from NTUC or AVIVA for Calvin’s medical insurance plan. I think both are quite affordable but we would still have to think it through which one is more value for money. I guess we will meet up with their insurance advisers first before we can decide as soon as Calvin is born. As for Calvin’s dental plan, I would still have to do some research if there’s such a plan here in Singapore or if I can claim it using our medical outpatient consumable benefit here in the office.

In or Out?

This song of Sandara Park has been singing in my head for some weeks now. We are going to have a reduction in force in our company. Early rumors was the announcement would be last January 25 but it keeps on getting pushed out. Now, talks are it's going to happen this Wednesday. Well hopefully it does so it's finally over and done with. The morale in the office is not that good when there's retrenchment looming around the corner. It's better they announce soon so people can start going back to normal.

I'm actually 50-50 on this. Half of me wants to be retrenched as long as the package is good. I plan to resign anyway by end of this year to be a full time mommy to Calvin. But if the package is not good I would rather stay until the end of year so we could save up some money. Oh well, let's wait and see. :)

Speaking of out, we are moving into a new place by the end of this month. We are actually downgrading to just renting a room at our bro-in-law's place (we are currently staying at a 2-bedroom HDB). For one, Calvin is our first baby and it would be nice to be around family 100% of the time. Second, this is in preparation for our plans of me becoming a stay-at-home-mom. Kelangan magtipid naman. :) It's a good thing we already found someone to replace us in our current apartment until our September end of contract. That's one less thing to worry about...

These times are really tough. But I'm sure we will all get through it. That's a big statement coming from a worry-wart like me... hehehe.. Anyway, Good Luck to us all :)

Bloom Session

Last Saturday we had our maternity photo session at The Studio Loft. Bloom Session costs 180 SGD but since I have a Spring Maternity discount card we got 10% off. You can visit their website to check out the details of the package. We also purchased the digital copy of all shots from the session for 250SGD. Yes, it was a bit expensive but for us it was totally worth it! We love love love the photos. Below are our favorite shots. I also did some nude poses but those are for our eyes only... hehehe....

A lot of people are saying my tummy is super huge. Some even ask me if I'm having twins. Hindi po. Isang bouncing baby Calvin lang. Personally, I don't think it's super huge. It may just look that way because I'm not really gaining any weight myself, lahat napunta sa tyan! I think Calvin is sucking all the food that I eat... hehehe...

By the way, we changed our minds and I will just be giving birth here in Singapore instead of the Philippines. I am worried that we may not be able to get Calvin's passport right away kung sa Pinas. Maigsi lang kasi ang maternity leave ko and I don't want to leave Calvin sa Pinas. No way, hehehe... Plus Daddy Jongster cannot take a long leave because of their new company policy on leaves. Kaya dito na lang sa Singapore kahit mahal.

I am now entering week 36. Konti na lang. I am really excited na (and scared) to give birth. I am really hoping for normal delivery. Please please God! :)

The Philippines would always be our home sweet home

We are currently living in Singapore but someday we would still like to go back to the Philippines for good. Well, hopefully in about 5-10 years time. A lot of my friends and colleagues don’t want to go back to the Philippines anymore. They prefer to stay here in Singapore or move to some other country because for them the Philippines is not a safe place to live in. But for us, we would still like to go back. I just love the Philippines! Like what they say, there’s still no place like home and the Philippines would always be our home sweet home. I love the food, the beaches and our family is there. For now, we are just trying to save up for our retirement and Calvin's education. And of course, we would also like to have enough funds to buy a family car. I am thinking we will just get a Toyota Avanza since the price is not that expensive. :) Or if electric/hybrid cars are not that expensive maybe we will just get those instead. Check out this neat site on electric cars. I just hope the economy picks up soon and I don't lose my job (cross your fingers!) so all these plans can become a reality. :)

Jongster and I have decided that I will just be giving birth in the Philippines instead of Singapore. In case I need to have a CS delivery, it would be super expensive in Singapore... Yesterday, I was checking on some flights na. Buti na lang hindi pa ako nagbook :) I was thinking sa next credit card cutoff na lang and baka magka-promo pa. And the next day... Yey! Me promo nga! We just booked our February flights awhile ago. All zero fare, just have to pay the taxes. So happy... hehehe...

By the way, I forgot to update on my biopsy result. Well, it's not PG nga. Mukha ngang contact dermatitis, severe allergic reaction to something. I'm suspecting it's the fabric softener I'm using so I stopped using it na. I don't have the rashes in my tummy anymore but it still hasn't gone back to it's original color nga lang. It's still darker than the rest of my skin. :( Anyway, it's fine. I just hope it returns to normal someday :)

Finally I'm going back to Singapore. Hopefully maayos na agad and makauwi na by early December. And the yey! part is some of my colleagues will be travelling along with me since the product we were supporting here got cancelled. Blessing talaga because I didn't want to travel all the way from here back to Singapore alone. Buti na lang talaga me kasama ako. Thank you God. :)

Now on my 24th week! Konti na lang and I'm on my 3rd trimester na. Yey! I'm really excited na. It's getting a bit difficult to sleep na pero ok lang, it's all worth it. I can't wait to give birth. And Jongster is equally excited I'm sure... 109 days to go na lang anak! :)

Last Wednesday I noticed some rashes on my stomach. At first I was thinking it was just normal for pregnant women. And since it didn't itch that much at that time I didn't pay much attention to it. But during the weekend I noticed it has gotten worse (covered most of my tummy) and by Sunday evening it was itching like crazy. And I also noticed that my legs had a lot of mosquito bite like rashes also. I had some of these rashes appearing on my legs already during my first week here in Austin but now they are a lot! Wow naman. Sumabay pa sa stomach rash ko. Napra praning na talaga tuloy ako. So I set an appointment with my OB to have it checked . You should have seen the look on her face. She even asked for a second opinion from the another OB. She said she wanted a dermatologist to check it since there are a number of possibilities what this severe stomach rash could be. I was hearing it might be herpes gestationis (hinde yung herpes na VD ha). Yikes! I encountered this one while researching my symptoms. It's also known as pemphigoid gestationis and it is very rare among pregnant women. Ayan napra praning na ako lalo. But she checked the baby's heartbeat and ok naman daw. Thank God. So she set me with an afternoon appointment with the dermatologist. The derma said she thinks it contact dermatitis. Kasi concentrated areas naman daw yung rash. She was recommending that she gives me creams to help ease the swelling and itching muna and then come back after a week to see if it improves. I was telling it her I did some research and asked if it's possible it's PG. She said that might be one thing to consider but she doesn't think it's PG but if it will make me feel better she can do a skin biopsy to check. She said nga lang it will scar. So the praning soon-to-be-mommy that I am, I opted for this biopsy. Ok lang magka scar, basta malaman ko lang kung PG nga ba or not. Scary kasi yung PG pede daw mag cause the preterm labor. :( So she did the biopsy and now I have some stitches. Masakit sya ha. Mejo makirot pa sya now. I have to go back there next week to have the suture removed. I am really hoping it's not PG. As for the mosquito bite like rashes in my legs, still have no idea what's causing it. Di ko alam kung me nangangagat ba sken dito sa apartment habang tulog ako. But that well that's the least of my worries right now.

I should know the results by end of this week or early next week. Again, I hope it's not PG.

Finally got myself a new template. I really like this one na. So girly and bagay sa magiging mother to be. :)

Speaking of new, my BFF Karen has confirmed she is also preggy. Yipee! She is now 7 weeks pregnant. Jongster and I are thrilled kasi konti lang ang agwat nila ni Baby C. Baby C muna for now until I have confirmed if our baby is a girl or a boy. Had a checkup before I left for the States and my OB was really very sure our baby is a boy. But I am bit doubtful if that's accurate since I was only 15 weeks preggy then. I just think it's a bit too early to see the gender na... If our baby is a boy, we have decided to name him Gabriel Calvin. If a girl, then it's going to be Caitlin Guinevere. I already have an appointment for another checkup this Wednesday. I am really excited kasi gusto ko na makita si baby uli. Sayang lang kasi Jongster is not here with me... :(

Yes we are preggy. I am now on my 9th week of pregnancy. Last week I had my first checkup with my OB, Dr. Kong Hon Chan from Gleneagles Hospital. Yes he is a guy. Hehe... I forgot to ask for a female OB. Anyway, he seems nice and competent and I like the fact that he has a nice accent so it's not hard to understand him at all. Our baby's first pictorial below.

To be quite honest I didn't really want to get pregnant yet. We weren't really even trying. So when I missed my period and took the home pregnancy tests (3 times actually) and it was positive I kept finding some excuse that it may be a false positive. I finally accepted it when I went to the doctor and he confirmed that I was really pregnant. But after my first ultrasound and we saw our baby on the screen and heard our baby's heartbeat, I started to feel excited. Scared and excited really. I know it's going to be tough but I'm sure we can make it. I am really hoping it's a girl. Our little baby Cate :)

My First Baking Project

Before the year 2007 ended, we bought a convection and rotisserie oven so my mom could cook some roast chicken for new year's eve. It can toast, roast, broil and BAKE! :) I've always wanted to try baking but didn't have the equipment, so now that we have the oven, I figured I better start. So for my baking debut, I decided on baking some brownies muna. Brownie Recipe courtesy of JoyofBAKING.com. Since this is my first try, I halved the recipe. Sayang naman kasi kung pumalpak, hehehe... I used Van Houten baking chocolate and instead of Pure Vanilla Extract I used Imitation Vanilla Extract (it was the only vanilla extract I could find in Fairprice). The website warned that using Imitation Vanilla Extract would leave a bitter aftertaste but I didn't notice it. The side edges got a bit burnt coz I didn't take it out of the oven right away but it's still edible naman (parang naging cookies yung edges). In fairness, masarap sya. Brownies just the way I like it. I brought some for my officemates and they liked it as well. And Jongster liked it of course as if my choice sya, hehehe... So, I guess I can consider my first baking project a success! Looking forward to more baking in the weeks to come :)

During our visit to Eden Nature Park, we saw this very different plant. The locals call it the Mickey Mouse plant. Did some research and this plant is actually the Solanum mammosum, more commonly known as nipplefruit or Cow's udder because of it's shape. Don't be deceived by this cute fruit though, it's actually poisonous :)

Yipee! She's in the top 12 of American Idol! Was kind of worried yesterday she might be eliminated... I hope she makes it far. Her voice is just phenomenal plus she is cute to boot. I think she even kind of looks like Rainier Castillo (from GMA's StarStruck). I think they can pass as siblings, hehehe... Pero sana lang she stops crying so much everytime somebody is sent home....

Just finished watching the finale of Project Runway 4 and.... Yey! my super favorite Christian Siriano is the winner! He is just 21 yrs old but oozing with talent. It was actually pretty obvious he'd win naman eh. Guest judge and fashionista Victoria Beckham just loved every piece of his collection and even said she would be honored to wear a Christian Siriano creation. Congratulations Christian! (feeling closeness... hehehe) You're really fierce!

The One with the Electric Can Opener

We were looking for an electric mixer last Friday when we saw the electric can opener. Jongster wanted this since he tried using one during his assignment before in US. We even tried looking for it when we were still in the Philippines but couldn't find one in the stores we tried. So together with the electric mixer we went ahead and bought the electric can opener too. Super awesome kitchen gadget! Perfect for lazy me. :)

I actually started blogging as a way to practice writing in English again. I guess I didn’t use it much during my college days in UP, and working for a multinational company with people of diverse cultures with different "versions" of the English language got it quite rusty. :)

Wow, it's been ages since I posted anything here... Have been really busy with other stuff (work, then the family coming over for vacation and then facebook hehehe) so I have neglected blogging...

But I guess today is the time to blog again. I have just received some sad news recently. Miss de Guzman, one of my favorite teachers in Masci when I was still in high school has pancreatic cancer stage 2B and needs to have surgery as soon as possible and after surgery she has to undergo some chemotherapy pa... The surgery is really expensive (~500k) and I'm sure the chemo will also be financially draining...

Miss de Guzman has dedicated her entire life to teaching and I can attest that she is a damn good teacher. She is one of those teachers that even some my "pilyo" classmates respected...

For all the Mascians out there, let's do what we can to help her. It's the least we can do....

Meet my new toy... :)

Got it at COMEX 2007 for a good deal last Friday night. 669SGD with a lot of freebies: two 2.0GB SD cards, leather camera case, digital camera bag with camera cleaning stuff and a Samsonite shoulder bag. Cool huh! I have been thinking of replacing my old digicam (a Konica Minolta Dimage Xg) and was choosing between an Ixus 850IS or Ixus 950IS. Good thing I waited for the IT show because the Ixus 860IS just came out, well it wasn't there in the canon.sg website yet when I was looking... It's basically the same as the 850IS but with a whooping 3.0 inch LCD screen. Wow. Compared to my old digicam, that's a HUGE difference. :)

After buying the cam, we (me, Jongster, Perry, Carol and soon-to-be hubby Emric) went to Makansutra (hawker center near Esplanade) to have some dinner. Our welcome dinner for Carol since she just arrived here in Singapore. We had crispy baby squid, chicken wings, carrot cake (it's not really made of carrot, no idea why they call it carrot cake), stingray and some beef and chicken satay. Super busog!

Wow, my first (and last) post for August. I have been busy lately that I haven't even visited my own blog for more than a month! Grabe.

I am on a "planned" sick leave today (also known as "MC" here in Singapore) because my good friend Carol is arriving today. She will be working here na rin and will be staying with us for awhile. The arrangement is I will leave early from work to meet them someplace and then go back to our place BUT I thought it will be better if I just took the whole day off because something might come up in the office that would prevent me to leave earlier. But now it's for real, I'm really going to be sick in a few minutes, coz now i just had my period! Kainis. I really don't like taking medicines for the pain and would usually just try to sleep it off. But today would have to be one of those exceptions coz I really have to leave the house...

Before I leave and take some rest because of this ****ing period, here's some quick udpates:

565k down, 260k to go! Paid off the loan we owed Bogs. Thanks a lot Bogs!

Finished Legend of Zelda, The Twilight Princess. Really had a great time playing this. This game is highly recommended for Wii console owners out there. Now searching for the next Wii-game addiction hehehe...

We have decided not to go home for vacation (again!) in December. Our family will be flying over here for the Christmas vacation instead (Nanay, Ate Kleng, Mommy and Reiczy). We have booked their tickets na so it's all set. Since Kuya Uly, Ate Karen and the kids are not going home too, Jongster and I thought it best to fly them here na lang so Nanay could spend time with the apos.

Jongster is not going to Israel anymore, yehey! He accepted a traning opportunity to go to Israel a few months back which would take about 2-6 months. But their working permits got super delayed and just got approved recently. So now he turned it down on the account that it has been delayed so much already and plus the fact that he wants to find another job actually hehe.

Jongster will be going to Hongkong instead for a short business trip. Might drop by there for one weekend. Still thinking :)

Will be in Manila on Sept7-9 to attend my good friend Tanya's wedding on Sept 8 (I will be part of her Liturgical entourage) and to celebrate my Mom and sister's birthday on Sept 9 (my Mom's birthday is actually this coming Sept 2). I already bought my mom a gift earlier this month, I hope she likes it.

7 Random Habits or Facts about Chepot:

You would usually see me tugging at my hair looking for “patay na buhok”. You know, the pubic like ones. I do this anywhere – the house, the office, the mall, the MRT/bus… Sometimes I look like nagkukuto but no, I just want to get rid of those ugly looking strands. Trying to stop na, kasi di ba mukhang engot, but it’s really hard eh.

If there’s a planned get-together, gimik or event, I need to wear something new, usually a new top would do. Call me vain but that’s a requirement for me! Heck, I usually buy something new before every week but our current loan has got me tamed for some time now. Can’t wait for it to be over so I could go back to my old usual shopping self. :)

I love the taste of my blood. Maybe I was a vampire in my previous life.

I am a torrent addict. I download almost every tv series available even if I don’t get to watch all of them. I just love the thought that I have a copy if and when I decide to finally watch it.

I love gaming. Jongster and I actually got close and eventually became a couple through gaming during college (Mordor and Starcraft). Now, I am more into playing Wii and Xbox360 games.

Am not really a big fan of The Simpsons** but when we watched The Transformers two nights ago we saw The Simpsons Movie trailer and I found this part totally hilarious! :D

The Simpsons Movie is going to hit the theaters this coming July 27. We will watch this movie for sure because Jongster likes it and because I love the spider pig, hehehe....

Wiii... One Week After

This is a long overdue post, should've done this last week pa pero... you'll find out later why :)

Last Sunday (July 1) was a Wiiiiii day for me:

Wiiiiii... because we finally remitted two months worth of savings to pay off a part of our loan to Bogs and the exchange rate at that time was a little over 30Php. Yey! I was just really praying sana at least 30 man lang when we remit and my prayers were answered. 450,000 down, 375,000 to go! Malapit na mabayaran ang loan! Wiiiiii!

Wiiiiii... because we got another Star Trek Voyager DVD. We saw Season 2 last week at Gramophone at the Capitol Centre branch (the one near City Hall MRT station) and it was the only season left there :( It was on sale at 15% off kaya lang di pa payday eh. So I told Jongster let's just come back for it next week, if it's still there and it's still on SALE, we'll buy it. Lo and behold, when we came back a week after it was still there! And still on SALE! So now i have 3/7 seasons of Voyager, 4 to go na lang! Wiiiiii!

Gotta find that season 3!

Wiiiiii... because after a long time here in Singapore I finally got to do some shopping! Pede ba naman palagpasin ang GSS! I got some moolah from our company's refer-a-friend scheme and got a go signal from Jongster to use the money for shopping instead of just saving it up to pay for the rest of our loan since this is "bonus" money naman. Not part of the budget. :) So off to Vivo City we go. I remember last Sunday being all giddy with delight when we entered the mall. We have been here before of course but usually just to watch a movie, eat or meet with some friends. But this is actually the first time we are going here with shopping as the main agenda. Parang nagspa-sparkle sparkle yung mall pag pasok namin, hahaha.. Grabe na to. After a few hours, mission accomplished: bought some blouses and a dress at Zara; capri pants, sleeveless shirt,a bag and a shirt for Jongster at Esprit (even got myself a membership card, 10% off all year round, wohoo!), a mini skirt at Mango and some knickers from Topshop. Mission accomplished indeed with even 200 bucks to spare! Wiiiiii!

And the biggest Wiiiiii of all... we finally got ourselves this:

Costs 659 SGD at Best Denki and comes with an extra controller and 1 game (choice of Shrek the Third or Spiderman 3). We bought it at Best to get some linkpoints but it's cheaper by 10SGD at Challenger but the game choice is only Shrek the Third. We have been eyeing Wii for some time now pero wala kasi lagi stock. When we saw it was on stock again, hay bili na agad. Wala na isip isip. Remember I said we still had 200 bucks to spare? Wala na! Over pa nga e! hahaha.. Yari na naman sa next credit card billing cycle... Bahala na si batman :) Sulit naman 'tong Wii eh, you get to burn some calories while you have fun playing, ayos! Wiiiiii!

Kaya very busy for the past week, very little time for blogging. Actually my posts for the week were mostly done in the office except for yesterday's photo hunt, mwehehe.. :)

All my school class pictures -- oh yes, from grade school to high school! :( -- were ~~damaged~~ totally ruined because our house before in Binan got flooded. So it’s nice that my batch mate posted this on friendster. Now at least I have all the digital copies of my senior year class pictures and 1 out of 3 (I think) from my junior year. Sure hope somebody posts those from my freshman and sophomore years too. :)

Pay It Forward

You may all be familiar with this movie. When something good is done to you by others, you don't pay it back, you pay it forward...

We have been through tough times before but thank God there are always good people who lend a helping hand. And although we have had our share of bad luck God has still been good to us. The good outweighs the bad ika nga. As a part of “paying it forward”, I heeded the call of a former org mate in college. They have this foundation which offers scholarships programs to deserving but financially challenged kids. I agreed to sponsor a girl in grade school and pledged to support her until she finishes high school, and maybe even until college if we see that she is really determined to finish college. Education is a valuable thing, I realize that now. :) We haven’t personally met her but we will definitely try to meet up with her maybe this December.

For this week's theme: sweet, I would like to share a photo with our previous dog Bubbles. We had to give her to a friend since we were about to leave for Singapore and because she is quite strong my mom couldn't really take care of her by herself. Sad as we may be, we had to give her to a new mommy, my good friend Bill's girlfriend, and now our good friend too, Aileen.

I was crying big time during the morning when she was about to be picked up by Aileen and I guess Bubbles could sense my sadness. She doesn't usually lick people's faces but seeing that i had tears streaming down my face, she was licking them away as if saying don't be sad anymore mami... What she did made me smile. :) She is really a sweet dog and we miss her. My husband and I make it a point to visit her whenever we are in the Philippines.

Yummy Cakes: Choc.a.bloc

I accidentally discovered this cake shop because it's near where we live. They have some of the yummiest cakes we ever tasted. We have tried Mom's Choco Fudge Cake and Crunchie Chocolate Fudge Cake. Very moist and not too sweet, yummy talaga! And they also sell brownies and muffins. We got to try one of their brownies and found it yummy too! If you happen to be in Singapore, do try their cakes. I highly recommend it. But orders would have to be made in advance because they don't sell it off the rack. I'm not too sure though if they have a separate stall somewhere selling cake slices... This morning Jongster and I did not go to work together as we usually do. He left earlier to drop by the bank before work. So as usual late na naman ako gumising kasi Monday. When I was about to go out of the house I remembered that I left my keys in his knapsack. Buti na lang naalala ko! So I went to look for his knapsack and couldn’t find it. Syet! So I had to call him to ask….

*ring ring ring*

Jongster: “Hello.”
Chepot: “Bibe, nasan yung bag mo?”
Jongster: “Eto dala ko.”
Chepot: “Eh bibe, nandyan yata susi ko…”
Jongster: “Teka bibe, check ko. Baba ko muna ‘tong phone. Tawag ako sayo uli…”
Chepot: “Ok”

*ring ring ring*

Jongster: “Bibe, nandito nga.”
Chepot: “Nye bibe, paano mamaya uwian?”
Jongster: “Bahala na mamaya, bibe.”
Chepot: “Nye, bad trip naman o.” (sabay end ng call kinda inis na.)

***This conversation took place with me thinking that he didn’t lock the main door and the gate so I was only worrying about uwian time coz I usually arrive home much earlier than he does…

I went to the door and saw that he locked it. Ayos lang, we have a spare key for the main door that’s always in the living room…

I got the key and opened the main door and Voila!... my dear husband also locked the gate. I was trapped! Didn’t have a spare key for the gate kasi namamahalan ako before sa pa recopy. 15SGD ba naman, like almost 450Php na kaya yun…

*ring ring ring*

Chepot: “Bibe, ni lock mo rin yung gate, wala ako susi nun. Balikan mo ako dito.”
Jongster: “Ok bibe, mag time in lang ako tapos balik ako jan.”

Kaya today I was later than usual, around 2 hours late! The usual is around 1 hour late lang, hehe. So on the way home, with a heavy heart, I had the gate key duplicated. Ang mahal naman kasi eh! :) But I certainly don’t want to be trapped again inside my house, so ok na lang yung 15SGD. Hmp.

Just started watching it this season, it's now currently on season #2. The first two episodes were just so so. But the third one, the Chicago auditions was great in my opinion. And I just adore host Jerry Springer since I watched him compete before on the 3rd season of Dancing with the Stars. America’s Got Talent is now on my list of reality shows to watch (I’m such a reality tv show addict! Hahaha…)

My super favorite right now would be Cas Haley. Wow, this guy is really a surprise! Initially looking at him prior his audition, I thought he was one of those delusional people who think they have talent but really have none and just want a few minutes of fame. But the moment he started to sing… as David Hasselhoff said… he blew me away!

Ok I take back what I said in my previous post about digital magazine subscription... DON'T SUBSCRIBE DIRECTLY AT THE HFM WEBSITE!!! It's better to subscribe in zinio.com, costs a little bit more but you certaintly won't get "high blood"...

So I was really amazed when I subscribed to Elle and got my first issue right away. Then I saw that the July issue was available and was actually wondering why I haven't received any delivery notification yet since they already charged my credit card... And after all, it's already digital right!!! So I went on to mail Elle's customer service and ask why this is so...

What the fuck?!?! Now, I'm pissed. I didn't ask her how they ensure each issue is delivered before the due date!!!And what address labels??? What dispatched in advance??? I have a freakin' digital subscription for Pete's sake!!! Breathe in, breathe out. Not in a rush to get those issues, just let it go... Besides, doing the math I got the June issue for free (since sept '07-oct '09 is still 26 issues).

***And another disclaimer comes to mind, not all issues can be shared for free. I think I can only share the first one I got since essentially I got it for free too. Just part of the advertising brouhaha.***

Elle should really think about the company they hired as their customer service reps coz it's really lousy. I'm never going to subscribe directly from them even though it's cheaper (now I know why it's cheaper!). I just hope they will fail to process my 3 other subscriptions (at this rate, chances are pretty high that they would!) because I just want to order those instead at zinio.com. I would highly recommend zinio.com now since I already got to try it also and their service is great!

Two days ago, I was surfing the web trying to find some nice home design and decoration stuff when I stumbled into something really cool: Digital Magazine Subscription. No more print magazines piling up your shelves since it's conveniently stored in your hard drive and can be accessed in any other PC as long as you have internet connection. You can now enjoy magazines not available in your country or are available BUT are very expensive, digital magazines are much cheaper, I got Met Home magazine for 12USD for 22 issues and Elle magazine for 14USD for 26 issues. Plus you don't need to wait a long time to get your first issue, once you have submitted your order and of course the payment information, you can start downloading. The magazines partnered with zinio.com to bring you this wonderful innovation. I subscribed mine directly from the Hachette Filipacchi Media website (it's cheaper there than in zinio). Some of the other magazines are only available in zinio.com but I suggest if you find a magazine you like there, still try to find the home website of that magazine because it might be available there at a cheaper rate.

Right now there are limited magazines available but I'm sure in time all magazines will be adopting this new trend. Hope FHM Philippines does it soon. We already have tons back in the Philippines since Jongster is an avid collector/reader of FHM.

I'm subscribed right now to Elle, Metropolitan Home and Popular Photography & Imaging. Should have also included Home and Elle Decor but I accidentally closed the window before I could get my first copy so I'm still waiting for customer service to answer my e-mail before I try to start ordering again because my credit card might get double charged! Those who want a copy just give me a buzz. The other wonderful thing about it is you can share it with your friends for FREE! Super cool, huh! Just don't forget me when you start subscribing... :)

Last Year In My 20's...

Just turned 29 last June 5. Yikes, this is the last year I'm going to be in my 20's! Hehe...
Spent the day just bumming around at home (MC ito!). Jongster got me some chocolates when he got home even if I wasn't really asking for a gift anymore, kasi super magastos na ako. Bawi bawi na kumbaga. :)

Hi guys, I'm back! Inatake na naman po kasi ng katam. Hehe... :)

I was supposed to start blogging again the night Melinda Doolittle was eliminated in American Idol but as usual laziness got in the way. Man, I was really disappointed that she got the boot! Seriously! Nothing against Jordin and Blake because I also like them both but Melinda was really the better singer/performer and she is my #1 choice. The only thing is she is not pretty. Fine, I get it America!!! But still I'm really disappointed (sniff sniff -- kasi the past 2 seasons my favorites won -- Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks). Anyway, good luck Melinda! I know there is still a BIG career in store for you!

So what have we been up to the past month? Well, the highlights are: watched "The Phantom of the Opera" at Esplanade, had a nice vacation (and buffet eating spree) at Bintan, watched Spiderman 3 in 4k digital @ GV Vivocity, bought the game Viva Pinata (wohoo!!!) and had my first try at the driving range.

The Phantom of the Opera

We decided before that we weren't going to watch The Phantom na lang kasi nga nagtitipid kame supposedly. But Jongster found this bargain tickets at this xbox360 forum site he frequently visits. The seller was not going to be able to watch na so he is selling it at a discount. The tickets were originally priced at 162SGD each and we got both tickets for 260SGD na lang and the seats were really good. So we changed our minds and decided to watch na lang. Good thing we did coz it was really nice. How they switched in between sets was really amazing. Na appreciate ko talaga since we were not seated so far from the stage unlike when we watched Miss Saigon at the CCP theater back in the Philippines, sobrang layo namin we had to rent binoculars to watch.

Bintan Weekend Get-Away

Bintan Resorts is a 55-min ferry ride away from Singapore's Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Travel agencies offer packages including hotel + accomodations but we opted to just book the ferry ride and hotel accomodations ourselves since it's still a bit cheaper. For ferry bookings, you can book online at Bintan Resort Ferries website: www.brf.com.sg. Roundtrip adult fares would cost 43.20 SGD for weekdays and 54.20 SGD for weekends. For resorts & hotel listings, you can visit the Bintan Resports website: www.bintan-resorts.com. We chose to stay at Nirwana Resort Hotel because they have a room promotion at 140SGD per night at that time. This already includes buffet breakfast and transfers for two.

This is pretty much our list of activities during our Bintan stay:
Day 1 - Swim, Tambay sa Beach, Eat Buffet Dinner, Sleep
Day 2 - Eat Buffet Breakfast, Swim, Tambay sa Beach, Eat Lunch, Spa Session @ Kedaton Tropical Spa, Swim, Tambay sa Beach, Eat Buffet Dinner, Sleep
Day 3 - Eat Buffet Breakfast, Swim, Tambay sa Beach, Eat Buffet Lunch, Uwi na!

I told you we had an eating spree! The seafood was really delish! Super papak kame ni Jongster. :) Mejo magastos lang talaga because we ate mostly in the resort's restaurants. Eh lagi pa me 10% government tax and 10% service tax! I think there is a cheaper place outside the resort they call Pasar Oleh Oleh pero super tamad ako to go out of the resort. Just wanted to relax and hang out by the beach talaga.

The beach is also nice, similar na to Boracay but Boracay sands are whiter and finer in my opinion plus the Boracay beachfront is really bustling with activity (I miss Boracay!). But since we just wanted to relax, Bintan is the perfect place to be.

We will probably be back there sometime soon. Some of my friends might be visiting us here in Singapore in the coming months and I want to bring them there for a day trip.

Spiderman 3 in 4K digital

I think of the three Spiderman movies, this one is really #3. As in kulelat for me. :) This movie was the first movie offered in 4K digital at GV Vivocity i think so we gave it a try. Ayos nga. It's like watching a very very BIG HDTV.

Viva Pinata (Xbox 360 Game)

We got the game second hand at 35SGD at www.bob.com.sg (a brand new xbox 360 game would typically cost 70SGD). Super bargain. We are hooked! And since we super love this game, i think this deserves a separate blog entry. Hehehe.. I will add this to my to-do list. Basta ang masasabi ko lang mas nilalaro pa 'to ni Jongster kesa sa N3 at Gears of War. Mwahahaha!

First Try at the Driving Range

Yes! I finally got to try golf, well at least the driving range. What I thought before as a stupid game of hitting balls is NOT stupid AT all. My first try to hit the ball, I missed. Hahaha... My good friend Bogs, our designated "teacher" (he is really good by the way and he is still single *wink wink*) said it was normal for beginners. My second try was a success! Yippee! Mahina nga lang hahaha. Sbe ni teacher Bogs ok naman daw yung swing ko. But I get tired easily. I'm using his golf clubs kasi eh and i find them heavy. Maybe I should get my own set... Hehehe.. Yari na naman budget nito. The next day, my arms and back were sore. Ayan di kasi nag stretching. And since I don't exercise, nabigla ang mga muscles ko. :)

Since we will be in the Philippines for a vacation this coming weekend till the next, I won't be able to visit the driving range muna. When we get back from vacation na lang, maybe I have my own set of clubs na nun since my birthday is coming up soon anyway. Hihihi..

In this episode, we got to see the Skywalk X and Skyjump done in Macau Tower operated by AJ Hackett International (the same guys operating in Kuala Lumpur Tower). It looked super awesome! When we went to Kuala Lumpur last January we were only able to try the G-ForceX Anti-Gravity Machine and the Flying Fox Park (where you are harnessed and hooked up to cables and then glide from tree to tree ala Tarzan). But our super friendly AJ Hackett Crew, Raja, told us they will also be having the Skywalk X and Skyjump by August this year (if I remember right). After seeing it in the amazing race, we'll definitely be back there to try it out!

Dancing With The Stars aka DWTS

I forgot one reality show I'm also watching and that is Dancing With The Stars. :) This show is now on it's 4th Season. There are 3 promising celebrities this season (in my opinion): Apolo Anton Ohno, the Olympic gold medalist; Laila Ali, the undefeated world champion female boxer and daughter of Muhammad Ali and of course Joey Fatone of the boy band N'Sync. There is still no standout performance from Laila but I think she has a lot of potential. Well the guys, they are really showing they are in this competition to win. So what have I been watching? A lot of TV series and Voyager (my most favorite Star Trek Series ever! Next would be Deep Space Nine hihi). I won't bore you with the Trekkie stuff, a lot of people don't really dig my addiction to Star Trek except for my Trekkie friends hehehe...

So for this blog I will tell you about my favorite Reality Shows - I am a sucker for reality TV. Some say most of them are scripted but what the heck! I still love them anyway. :)

The Veteran Shows:

The Apprentice
- which is in Los Angeles this season instead of the usual New York setting.

The Amazing Race (All-Stars Edition)
- I was rooting for Rob and Amber to win even if Rob was such an ass. But they were eliminated after 3 amazing first place finishes so I am not really rooting for any team right now. I don't really like any of the remaining four teams but if I had to choose it will have to be the beauty queens because they are an all girls team. There is another all girls team, Charla and Mirna but I find Mirna so annoying...

Survivor Fiji
- I really like this season because they have put in some new twists to it. I hope Yau-Man wins! He is super awesome in challenges even if he is a teeny weeny old man.

America's Next Top Model
- I just love this show period. Nothing beats wannabe models bitch about each other. hehehe... And Miss Jay, "she" is starting to grow on me even if she looks like an orangutan on heels. :)

American Idol
- I'm getting used to Sanjaya now. I actually look forward to what he's gonna do next. Freaky. Hehehe... My favorites this season would be Melinda (my friend calls her Zoraida), Jordin and Blake. As long as any of them wins the title, I'm ok. I hope America won't let Sanjaya be the Next American Idol. I think that would spell an end to this show if that happens. Hehehe..

The Rookie Shows:

Grease You're the One That I Want
- this one is a bit cheesy but i sill watched it anyway, hehehe.. The Season is over and Laura and Max are going to be the next Sandy and Danny in the Broadway Production of Grease. Lucky them.

Top Design
- just like Project Runway but this one is on interior design. I'm glad that Matt won. He is just so classy. :)

Can't wait for Season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance to start. It's scheduled to start this May. :) There is also a new one which started last week titled "Shear Genius" which is on hairdressing naman. Amazing what kinds of reality shows they come up with. :)

Finally! After fantasizing about it for weeks and weeks, we finally purchased a Plasma TV. Yipi! So happy! Harvey Norman currently has a promotion on their LG 42PC1RR model. On top of slashing 1200SGD off the price, it comes with a free home theater system as well which retails at about 500SGD. Buti na lang wala pa yung credit card ni Jongster last week. Me additional home theater na, 0% installment pa. Sulit! One of the things i LOVE about Singapore is the 0% installment scheme on almost every electronic item. Saya saya. :)

Delivery is on Tuesday, can't wait!

Bill Visits Singapore

One of my best buds from Intel had a quick stopover here in Singapore last March 16. Jeff and Vince picked him up at the airport. Dapat kasama rin kami ni Bogs (mag MC dapat hehe), but we still had some stuff to do in the office and I just took a medical leave na rin at the start of that week (kahiya naman hehe). So Bogs and I just caught up with them at Starbucks Fullerton around 2pm or 3pm na yata. After hanging out and catching up on "chismis", we had dinner at Boat Quay. The food was a bit expensive but the food was delish and the restaurant had a nice ambiance. Umaalog nga lang pag me dumadaang river taxi. Then after dinner we had some dessert at Haagen-Dazs. I forgot the name of the choco ice cream we ordered. Choco Indulgence something something yata. :) Super chocolatey-licious! Yung isa weird me green tea. Hehe...

Bill had to catch his flight back to Dubai the same day rin but it was really nice to see him again after several months. 'Til next time!

OSIM Mania

Yey! Our iSqueez foot massager just arrived today at around 7pm. Super loved it when i tried it during a road show last week at Tampines Mall. So the following weekend, Jongster and I came back there and bought it. Sale sya eh, 500SGD na lang tapos pede pa installment at 0% interest. Sulet! They didn't have any stock available at the time so deliver na lang daw.

Aside from iSqueez, i also bought another OSIM massager: iCare 200. Eye massager naman sya. Eh kasi naman sinusundan ako ng OSIM.. hahaha. AMD had this EHS fair and OSIM was one of the participants. I really liked it as well when i tried it and they were offering it at 10% off pa. So ano pa? Bili na syempre! Hehehe...

Now if i could also have a nice back massager... *evil grin* hehehehe... :)

So i've decided to start blogging for real.. :) First timer.. hehehe..

Last year was a mix of good and bad. I will not go into the details of the bad part kasi maiinis lang ako. hehehe... meron lang naman kame gusto patayin ni jongster pag uwi namin Pinas sa May!

For the good part, Jongster and I got jobs in Singapore. Right timing kasi we really needed money to pay the remaining balance we owed to Empire East for the house we purchased in Gov Hills. 1M grabe by end of 2006! Of course, we didn't have that much saved. And even if we have already gotten jobs here in SG eh di pa rin kaya mag-raise ng 1M ng ganun kabilis! Thank God for our friends!!! We borrowed some money muna from them totalling to around 800k. I'm really thankful to these guys as in super!!!

Start of these year, we are starting to pay off our debts... As of now, we have already paid 3/8 super friends who lent us the money. Jongster and I would like to say thanks to R&M, V&K and R. Thanks guys, super grateful talaga kme...
